Financial Contributions

Another way to contribute is to give a Memorial Gift. A Memorial Gift is a beautiful testimony to the life of a beloved person or pet who has passed on-and the gift of life for animals in need. It can be just the right touch for expressing compassion to someone who has had a loss. If you wish to send a Memorial Gift to our shelter please include who the donation is in memory of, recipients address and your address. Please make checks payable to The Humane Society. Thank you for your Gift of Life!

Monthly Donations

We have a new monthly donation program at The Humane Society! Click the link below, and complete the form to help support The Humane Society by donating on a monthly basis. By signing and submitting this form, you agree to have the indicated amount automatically withdrawn from your account on a monthly basis. Reoccurring donations can be canceled at any time by submitting a written request to The Humane Society. Charges will be withdrawn on the first business day of each month.

Legacy Giving

Your charitable bequest is one of the most important types of gifts for building a future where animals continue to get a second chance at the life they were always meant to have. By naming the Broome County Humane Society as beneficiary, you will ensure that your love and compassion for animals carries on.

Become a Foster Parent

Interested in getting “hands-on” with our animals in the comfort of your home? We have many opportunities for you to become a Foster Parent and help many different kinds of animals.

KITTENS & PUPPIES: We are frequently getting little baby animals at the shelter that have been taken away from their mother earlier than they should of. They are still weeks away from being available for adoption, and need intensive love and care. We need Foster Families in place to help care for these animals at home. They need bottle-feeding and “round-the-clock” care. The animals that we have vary on a weekly basis, so please call the shelter or stop down to start the Foster Parent process so you can make the difference to those special little animals.

IMPOLITE & UNTRAINED ANIMALS: Animals are always easier to adopt when they have basic manners and are potty-trained. However, when they are at the shelter it’s not so easy to learn when you only get out of your cage once or twice a day.

DOGS: If you’ve ever had a dog that you’ve potty-trained, then you’re probably qualified to become a Foster Parent and take home a dog for a couple weeks to give it that extra care and guidance that will make all the difference in getting that dog adopted. We can give you advice and tips on training the dogs, all you need is the commitment to make the difference.

CATS: Cats are peculiar creatures. They have personalities of their own, and if they’re not treated with respect and love they can become learly of all people. We have several cats that don’t get adopted simply because they don’t “take to people” the way other cats do. We are looking for Foster Families to take them home, uplift their spirits, and give them a brighter outlook that will help them to get adopted.
